Pet Bereavement counselling

Online counselling to support you in learning to live with loss

The bond between human and pet is a sacred one,

The loss of a pet can be deeply distressing. Pets are family members,  they offer companionship, emotional support, and unconditional love. When a pet dies, the grief can feel overwhelming and is often misunderstood.

As a BACP registered counsellor, I also provide specialist pet bereavement counselling for people experiencing the loss of a pet. This could include grief after euthanasia, sudden or traumatic pet loss, anticipatory grief and long-term or unresolved pet grief. I am also a member of the Association of Pet Bereavement Counsellors, working in line with professional and ethical standards in this specialist area.

Pet bereavement can involve intense emotions,

such as sadness, guilt, anxiety, anger, loneliness, and difficulty coping day to day.

Pet grief counselling provides a safe, non-judgemental space to process your emotions, work through guilt or unanswered questions, honour the bond you shared with your pet, and learn how to live alongside the loss.

Grief does not disappear with time — it stays with you, just as your memories do. My aim is to help you live with and around your grief. When a pet dies, you are not only grieving their loss, but also who were when you were with them.

Grief is the pain of loss, and grieving is the process of learning to live with that loss.

If you’re seeking support after losing a pet, pet bereavement counselling can help. Please get in touch to explore whether working together feels right for you.

Grief does not disappear with time — it changes. As Mary-Frances O’Connor (The Grieving Brain) explains, we don’t “get over” grief; the brain slowly learns to adapt through grieving.

FAQ’s

  • Of course! Before we book your first session, it’s recommended that we have a discovery call. This is so we can meet and I can assist you with any questions you may have. This is also a wonderful time to see if we’re a good fit, counselling is personal, and needs to feel right, and that’s okay.

  • After your free discovery call, each session is 50 minutes long and costs £50.00

  • We have a 48 hour cancellation policy. If you cancel before this we can rearrange your session. Appointments cancelled after this time are non-refundable.
